it is usefull book

Arrived as expected, great shape

this is a fantiastic book! after reading castanedas work and being profoundly affected by the tools/knowledge he shared with the wrold. i felt there needed to be a kind of dictionary to the terms and techniques of these books...I had no idea there was one till I found this book in hastings, portland oregon. I looked through the book and didn'r buy it..but lter that day I regretted not picking it up..thanks amazon!for anyone who feels that what castaneda shared is useful and indeed powerfull, this book is a very well put together reference guide!

Very technical. Not for a beginner just starting to read Castaneda's books.

What first got my attention was the author Himself, an impeccable warrior on the Toltec path.This book is an amazing compilation of Castaneda's legacy, presented in a nice indexed fashion, find X topic on X page of X book.So more than anything this is a huge bibliographic reference of Castaneda's books and for obvious reasons it'd would make a plus if you are familiar with at least some of them.

I enjoyed this book alot, i had the 4th edition lent to me by a friend and when I saw a new edition was recently released I jumped on the opportunity to learn more. I have to say I was disappointed with a 10 year gap between publications i expected much more info related to the web and where fashion has gone with globalization.Basically you get 5 new pages that the book addresses on " the expansion of the Asian luxury market; the rise of "fast fashion," stylists, and celebrity endorsements; and the influence of the Internet." Each topic has a few paragraphs that is more padding than detail. There is basically no insight.If I'd read this ed. first i'd give it a 5 star but as for the new edition it fails, buy the 4th edition used or new it sells between a .25cent and $3 and don't waste $17 on this new one if you need to be frugal, trust me you aren't missing anything.

This book goes through the many eras of clothing. It was an interesting book to read. It also helped me understand how the hair styles usually get higher, and then get so high that end up becoming low.

Comprehensive book, covering costume history from ancient times to the present in 299 pages. Illustrations are wonderful for each time period, right up to the photograph of the wedding ceremony of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in 2011. Laver is known for his "erogenous zones theory," but he definitely has a point of view about costume of every decade, which is so important to our appreciation and understanding of costume history.

Great for my History of Costume class

This is an excellent book to learn about the history of fashion and its how fashion evolved through different periods. I do recommend it for beginners if you want to better understand fashion.

nice content

This book is very poorly written. I was required to get it for my class and the writer is terrible I don't know how he was able to publish this. It is incredibly repetitive and out of order and the photos do not follow along with the reading.

I was wary of purchasing a used book, as I don't typically do so. However this book came out of the box in almost perfect condition. I was very pleased. As for the content itself, its definitely an easy read. The author does a good job of putting the content in a manner which is easy to comprehend without being overwhelming.
