I have spent several months of my life in this area. The Paria wilderness on the AZ/UT border is located about 30 miles West of Page AZ and south of HWY 89, is an amazing place to spend some time. Several areas will require a park pass and they are often offered on a lottery. It took me about 5 seasons to finally win a lottery to get into the Wave. It was well worth the wait. Remember that the best photos will be taken just after sunrise and before sunset. Coyote Buttes N and S are amazing and will require the majority of a day as does the Wave. The Vermillion Cliffs and Giant Staircase Escalante are also beautiful. And If you are lucky enough to get into the wave, after you have explored the interior parts, take the time to go around the outside and explore the area just to the S. You will also want to wander off the path on your way back to the Wirepass trailhead. I hope that you find attractive and colorful skies to accent those amazing colorful rock surfaces. If you stay out there for sunset, finding you way back to the car can be very challenging as it takes a good few hours. A hand held GPS is very helpful.

How useful this book is will be highly dependent upon your purpose for the book. This is a highly detailed read and filled with interesting, but frequently highly trivial, historical background on the specific areas. I was looking for information on the Paria River and Buckskin Gulch areas for hiking and it certainly provided that. But the maps are so finely detailed and small that they are difficult to follow and to be of much use. So if you're looking for a trail guide that provides simple trailhead directions and hiking trail descriptions, you'll have to work to extract this information and will be mildly frustrated, but its there. If you want a very, very, thorough review of all of the geological, geographical, historical, and somewhere in here information on going there and what you'll find, then it is a very good book. Take it for what it is. Not a ton of information on this beautiful area and this provides more than most.

Got this book in preparation for a trip to the area. It's very comprehensive, but looks like it was laid out with an old fashioned typewrite. Still, if you plan to hike the Paria River, it's definately a good resource..

I ordered this book, as it's one of the only ones out there with any detailed information on the Paria wilderness, and the reviews looked pretty good. HUGE mistake.I have many problems with this book, but I'll just cover a few here. First--and probably most important, as it speaks to the safety of those who use this book--Kelsey gives sloppily written and poorly researched instructions into places that require considerable technical and canyoneering skills. These treks are not something to be undertaken lightly, and the only indication that one should perhaps give pause before undertaking one of Kelsey's routes is a half-page proviso near the beginning of the book that says, quite literally, "hey, don't blame me!" Appalling, truly.Second, what on earth the Mountain Meadows Massacre has to do with a book about hiking the Paria wilderness is beyond me. Aside from Kelsey's horrific bias in relating some (emphasis on "some") of the facts of this event, it's just completely irrelevant, and doesn't belong in the book. He self-publishes this book (another red flag), and so is lacking an editor to rein him in and keep the book focused. Pity.But my biggest problem with the book is Kelsey's bizarre agenda regarding BLM access and permit process for those wishing to hike into the Coyote Buttes North area (primarily to see the spectacular rock formation known as the Wave). The BLM strictly limits access to the area, because it's fragile and easily damaged, and they began doing so when swarms of people began descending on the Wave. When you have bus after bus full of tourists showing up to trample their way in to a place like this, it's going to have a very negative impact on the area. Kelsey's proposed solution? Let EVERYBODY in, and just ask them to take their shoes off when they reach the Wave. I'm not joking--but I wish I were.Kelsey imagines the permit system into Coyote Buttes North as some kind of liberal conspiracy (I'm not joking about that, either, sadly). Honestly, with advance planning, it's not that difficult to get a permit into the area. I began planning my trip a year ago, signed up online for the BLM lottery system, and got a couple of permits for my first choice of days. No difficulty, no hassles. If you fail to plan ahead, you can still take your chances with the walk-up lottery. Kelsey flat-out lies when he claims that you won't find restrictions like this anywhere else--not true. The National Forest Service restricts access all over the backcountry in popular wilderness areas, and keep trailhead quotas in place to limit the number of backcountry permits that are handed out on any given day (I just reserved my permit to get into the Palisades area in the John Muir wilderness this summer--again, not a difficult thing to do).With all the information easily available on the internet, Kelsey's book is largely unimportant and unnecessary (and I kind of regret even buying it). When the BLM sends out the permits, you get a VERY detailed trail map to guide you to the Wave, a much, much better guide than what Kelsey offers in his book.Pass this one up--it's not worth the money. Do a little research online, and just pick up your topo maps and photo guides (Amazon has better prices on those anyway).

This book is outstanding. I'm an avid canyoneer and these books got me started. Many think they're too good. I follow the canyoneering boards and people consistently complain that Kelsey gives away too much information and allows, "just anyone who buys the book" to get in the deepest, darkets canyons. The land managers down right hate these books because people get into trouble. I think a good guidebook tells you about an area and it's up to the individual to be responsible and not exceed their abilities.Aside from the extermely thorough and detailed area information, Kelsey takes pains to explain the history of the area and to prepare you for what you need to do spend time in these strange lands. I have hundreds of guidebooks from around the world and none of them comes close to Kelsey's in these areas. They are a treat to read.There are a few quirky things about Kelsey's work. He lists everthing in metric. I agree this makes perfect sense from a technical (the rest of the world is metric and it makes much more sense) point of view but still have to do a poor job of converting everything back to miles in my head. It would be better to list miles in brackets after the kilometers. Kelsey is also (apparently) very fit because his hiking times are impressively rapid. I usually add 50% to his times to get a realistic estimate of how long it will take me.All in all, I couldn't recommend Kelsey's books more. He is an extremely hard working, dedicated author. His works are jewels for this area and will long be recognized as not only the geographical authority but also the historical authority in this wonderful part of the world. Buy everything he writes.

I didn't give this book five stars because I didn't feel I knew Lacan much better after reading it. Granted, there were a few memorable moments of Lacanian interpretation, but now that I look back on it, they were only enlightening because of background information I had from better introductory texts. Fink's 'Clinical Introduction,' and 'Lacanian Subject,' are better for a base understanding of Lacan. Overall, I felt the book was worth the read, because it was Zizek after all.. I enjoyed a lot of the literature interpretations he included, as well as film analysis. Like other reviewers have commented, this is more Zizek in here than Lacan, and this was part of the reason I decided to read this. However, I felt the overall format of the book- divided by Lacanian theoretical points- did not help the reader's already difficult task of trying to keep track of Zizek's often scattered arguments.

LOOKING AWRY, the title of slavoj zizek's introduction of jacques lacan, is also a method of indirectly approaching lacan's work through critiques of popular fiction and film theory of the films of alfred hitchcock and a few films by other directors who worked, for the most part, in film noir of black and white films.comments on lacan's work are minimal within the body of zizek's text. the comments pertaining to lacan's work by zizek, function as signs pointing to the notes at the end of the book, and the notes pointing to lacan's writings. zizek's method does manage an introduction to the work of lacan.in the final section of zizek's text, the political ideas pulled from lacan's writings, seem to belong more to zizek than lacan. remarks made about nationalism under technological advances and the resulting racism of pizza parlors and chinese take-outs correlated with sade and kant were written here before social media, 9-11, and buzz phrases including `post-racial' and `diversity'. our time, our now, might clarify, set right, if not prove to be right or wrong, these prophecies.an excellent book for hitchcock fans or students who must read lacan, but equally an introduction to the work of slavoj zizek, who, from what the furious noise within the space surrounding him signifies, has gone on to sound off on much begun here by him.

I liked this book. I read this right after I read Sean Homer's "Jacques Lacan" from the Routledge Critical Thinkers Series. Homer's book properly initiated me into Lacan... I do not believe Zizek's book is a 'proper' introduction into Lacanian theory... it is great reading if you have already read a more measured introduction into Lacan. Bottom line: 'Looking Awry' isn't a great INTRODUCTION into Lacan....but if you are already introduced into Lacan, then "Looking Awry" is good reading.

I am struck by the negative reviews that caution readers: "Zizek is not an orthodox Lacanian! Read him only if you have already understood Lacan!" This is, of course, the typically cultish--really Catholic--approach to Lacan that treats him as a holy text, pre-supposes a series of high priests who have been properly anoited and through whom one must receive the officially sanctioned interpretation. I don't read Zizek for Lacan--I read him for Zizek, and I encourage others to do likewise. *Looking Awry* and *Enjoy Your Symptom* are prehaps the easiest approaches to Zizek and his brand of cultural criticism, as they rely almost entirely on popular culture, especially film. Zizek's perverse (and often dirty) sense of humor and tendency to read against the grain at all costs are apparent on nearly every page, which makes this a very engaging read, indeed. Intellectually, there are some problems with his approach, of course--but Zizek's voice is such a refreshing change of pace, and his constant turn to a reading that you thought was impossible (but turns out to be preversely appealing) makes them all worthwhile.

This book is very interesting but I think it would have been better to call it "An Introduction to Popular Culture trhough Jaques Lacan". This would be a proper title because Zizek dedicates more space to tell us what some products of popular culture are about (i.e. Stephen King's novel "Pet Sematary"; Robert Sheckley's short story "The Store of the Worlds") than to explain, or even outline, the theories of Jaques Lacan. This in itself is not a critique, I just want to say that the title can be misleading. You will not find here an explanation or an introduction to Lacan, but rather a Lacanian reading or interpretation of some products of popular culture (novels, short stories and films.) If you are looking for an easy or brief rendering of Lacan, this book will not be of much help. Moreover, I would say that the readers who will profit the most are those who are already familiar with, or at least know something about, Lacanian thought. This said, I think that Zizek's Lacanian reading of popular works is very good in some cases, and somewhat poor in others. For example, he recalls the novel "Pet Sematary" but he explains almost nothing about it. The good cases, however, make it worth the effort to read the book (Zizek's writing is complicated, but so is Lacan's), and even if you do not agree with some of his points, they are still useful to encourage thought and discussion. If you are interested in the study of popular culture, the interpretation of film and literature, or in the application of Lacanian theory to social analysis, this book will certainly be of use.

This isn't an introduction at all. If you already know about Lacan and you want to look more deeply at his concepts with illustrations of them drawn from literature and film then it's okay. If not then forget it. Lacanian concepts are complex and you really have to have mastered them to write a good book about them on an introductory level. Lionel Bailly's 'Lacan' is a superb introduction far better than anything Zizek is capable of turning out. 'Looking Awry' is the icing on the cake but if you haven't already got the cake then it's all icing and no cake.

The choking incident during the inception of Nexus, the pure joyride of team Hell No, and even his infamous match with Randy Orton on a random Raw in which some of Bryanâ€™s body shut down on him, Daniel Bryan doesnâ€™t shy away in detailing his emotions and backstage ordeals in these somewhat famous events. And itâ€™s absolutely entertaining.The deeper your knowledge is with wrestling the more I would recommend this book to you. The book is fun, seemingly honest, and full of insight of the niche culture of pro wrestling.

Daniel Bryan is hands down my favorite wrestler not named The Undertaker. I've followed his career from high school gyms with 50 people to the main event of Wrestlemania. To me getting this book was a no-brainer and luckily I wasn't disappointed.Although it was a fairly quick read it still found myself wrapped up in his story. His memoir combined with the description of his Wrestlemania prep was a bit confusing for the first few chapters but nothing you can't overcome. Overall I was very pleased with this book and would recommend this to anyone wrestling fan.

I've read some wrestling bios in my day, and this is up there with the best. No drunken hijinks or pill-fueled adventures, just a guy who loves wrestling. The Craig parts are fairly embarrassing (we know Brie is attractive, you can stop reiterating that), but Bryan's stories more than make up for it.

Reading about the life and struggles of one of the most influential people to me personally, and one of the most over wrestlers in the WWE is one of the best pleasures in the world. Reading about his life growing up, his time training under Shawn Michaels, Ring of Honor and various independents, and his signing, release, and re-signing by the World Wrestling Entertainment has given me a brand new respect for the living legend known as Daniel Bryan. I highly recommend this book for all people that are either casual fans of wrestling, not wrestling fans at all, or are looking to join the industry.

This was a fun fast reading book. I was surprised about how honest he was about his wwe career. He describes his frustrations with storylines. He also tells about the people who helped and supported him. He talks about his independent career and Japan. It was cool to read about his matches on the indies with future wwe stars Cesaro and Seth Rollings. Very good read

I really enjoyed reading Daniel Bryan's journey to Wrestlemania. I just wish he had put more of the things that had happened like the break in at his house he foiled and even more of the aftermath of getting injured after he won the title. Either way, the ending of the book has stuck with me and I talk to my dad more than I used to. Very good book.

Thoroughly enjoy this book. I'm about 100 pages in at the time of this post. DB with the help of Craig Tello take you into the life of an undersized competitor in to the unorthodox world of pro wrestling. Daniel's stories are told with his interesting point of view and really feel genuine. Many WWE fans know that the WWE has a tendency to rewrite history or simply leave things unmentioned. This book was not affected by that.

Fan of Daniel Bryan so I really enjoyed his book. Great insight into how he started and how hard it really is to make it in wrestling. It even detailed his relationship with Brie and looked at what it's like to appear on a reality show. Very truthful compared to some books, and I recommend it to any wrestling fan.

_The Icon and the Axe: An Interpretive History of Russian Culture_, first published in 1966 and made available here by Vintage Books, by renowned Russian scholar James H. Billington is a fascinating and highly detailed account of Russia's unique cultural history. James H. Billington (1929 - ) is a renowned Russian scholar who was a professor at Harvard and Princeton and is currently serving as the Librarian of Congress. His work has chiefly focused on Russian history and culture and also revolutionary movements including his excellent book _Fire in the Minds of Men_ (1980). Billington's scholarship is of the highest caliber, but his books may prove difficult for some given the fact that they are heavily footnoted and extremely scholarly. Billington defines this book as an "interpretive history of modern Russian thought and culture" and explains that resulting from his own reflections it offers a selective account of the rise and development of Russian culture and thought in the last 600 years. Russian culture offers a unique heritage and this book explores that heritage as it has existed in Russia's history. In his Preface, Billington explains that two artifacts have been chosen to serve as the title for this book - the icon and the axe - and that each has a unique and important meaning. The icon or holy picture represents Russia's spiritual heritage; while the axe is an unholy weapon. Both of these artifacts may be found "hung together on the wall of the peasant hut in the wooded Russian north" and "suggest both the visionary and earthy aspects of Russian culture". However, as the author notes ironically, the icon has been wielded by charlatans and demagogues while the axe has been wielded by saints and artists. Several important components play into Russia's cultural heritage including the history of the tsars, the lives of the peasants represented strongly in the traditions of their religion Eastern Christianity, and later the arrival of the Marxists who took over Russia in the form of Bolshevism. Billington identifies three supra-personal forces at work in Russian culture - nature itself, Eastern Christendom, and the impact of the West. This book explores all such important components in detail. The book is expertly footnoted and includes several detailed maps and various images and pictures.Billington begins his book with a Preface in which he explains his understanding of an interpretive cultural history, explores the notions behind the artifacts of the icon and the axe, and traces out his cultural history of Russia. This is followed by a section detailing his Acknowledgements. The first part of the book is entitled "Background". Here, Billington begins by detailing the earliest history of modern Russia as it existed in "Kiev", the role of the Slavs and Mongols, and the arrival of Christianity in the form of Eastern Orthodoxy. Billington explores ancient Russia literature and various sagas and lays. Following this, Billington turns to "The Forest" where he traces out Russia's earliest history, noting the relationship between the ancient tribes, how Eastern Christianity came to dominate, and the history of earliest Russia. Billington details this through sections exploring "Axe and Icon" and "Bell and Cannon". The second part of this book is entitled "The Confrontation" and explores the early Fourteenth to the early Seventeenth centuries. Billington traces out "The Muscuvite Ideology", noting the rise of Moscow as the "third Rome", tracing the heritage of the Russian rulers from the time of the semi-legendary Riurik, and exploring the mystical traditions of the Eastern Church and the Hesychasts. Billington next examines "The Coming of the West", noting the problematic role of Russia's relationship with the West. Billington discusses such things as "Novgorod", ""The Latins"", ""The Germans"", and "The Religious Wars". In particular, Billington notes the importance of Spain on Russia, the relationship between the Eastern churches and the Roman Catholics, the role of the tsars and the tsar seen as an Old Testament king, the notion of "Holy Rus", and various other relationships between Russia and the West. The third part of this book is entitled "The Century of Schism" and discusses history between the periods of the Mid-Seventeenth to the Mid-Eighteenth centuries. Billington discusses such things as "The Split Within" mentioning the schism of 1667 and considering such responses as "The Theocratic Answer", "The Fundamentalist Answer", and "The Great Change". Billington also discusses "The Westward Turn" mentioning such things as "New Religious Answers", "The Sectarian Tradition", "The New World of St. Petersburg", and "The Defense of Muscovy". The fourth part of this book is entitled "The Century of Aristocratic Culture" and discusses the Mid-Eighteenth to the Mid-Nineteenth centuries. Billington first discusses "The Troubled Enlightenment". Here, Billington examines such topics as "The Dilemma of the Reforming Despot", "The Fruits of the Enlightenment", "The Alienation of the Intellectuals", "Novikov and Masonry", and "The Frustration of Political Reform". Following this, Billington examines "The Anti-Enlightenment". Billington examines the forces operating against the Enlightenment in the form of the "Catholics", the "Pietists", the "Orthodox", and "The Legacy". Next, Billington considers ""The Cursed Questions"", examining the problems taken up by aristocratic intellectuals. Billington examines such topics as "The Flight to Philosophy", "The Meaning of History", "The Prophetic Role of Art", "The Missing Madonna", and "The "Hamlet Question"". The fifth part of this book is entitled "On to New Shores" and examines thought as it developed in the second half of the Nineteenth Century. Billington examines such issues as "The Turn to Social Thought", "The Agony of Populist Art", and "New Perspectives of the Waning Century" (including discussion of "Constitutional Liberalism", "Dialectical Materialism", and "Mystical Idealism"). The sixth part of this book is entitled "The Uncertain Collosus" and examines the period of the Twentieth century including the rise of the Soviets. Billington first devotes a section entitled "Crescendo" in which he examines periods following the revolution of 1917 and discussing such things as "Prometheanism", "Sensualism", and "Apocalypticism". Following this, Billington discusses "The Soviet Era" mentioning such topics as "The Leninist Legacy" and "The Revenge of Muscovy". Next, Billington discusses "Fresh Ferment", mentioning some of the accomplishments in Russian culture under Bolshevism. Here, Billington discusses such things as "The Reprise of Pasternak" and "New Voices". This part ends with a discussion of "The Irony of Russian History". I have read many books about Russian architecture, art, tsars, imperial costume and jewelry, and have lots of books of photos of the tsars, Russian houses, churches, Faberge, etc. I have visited St. Petersburg and saw many wonderful palaces and native arts. This book is just too academic and learned for me, who holds a Master's degree. It is packed with SO much information that it makes it hard to slog through. I wish it had been more accessible to a person who is NOT interested in such a great amount of detail. If you do like all the minutae, then this book is for you! It is a good reference book if you use the index and find exactly the leader, tsar, composer or artist that you want. this book has caused me to ask for some Russian short stories and poetry for Christmas gifts. The author is undoubtedly extremely well versed in Russian history and the arts. If he could have edited it to half its length he could have kept my interest. He goes for chapters and chapters on the Old Believers, for example. I will try reading Natasha's Dance which perhaps will be more geared to a general readership.

This book is easier to understand and more enjoyable than other books on similar topics. (I am only half the way through). I would buy this book again.

The Icon and the Axe. This book is a classic treatment of the topic: densely researched, gracefully written, and quick-paced throughout its 800 pages (rivaling many Russian novels in this latter respect). Delivery by Books Land was prompt, and both icon and axe arrived carefully wrapped and in great shape. Five stars all around.

This book evidently is the result of a disertation as it has the typical structure of such a document. It really needs to be read in conjunction with other books on Russian History to get its full impact. It is highly documented with lots of notes. It gives Russian history a new look, telling you why Russia had to do certain things. It was very enlightening and well organized and written. I would give it a must buy recommendation.

Mostly a rehash of the other "Distraction" books. Just buy one - we like "Delivered from Distraction" the best. Pair this one with "You mean I'm not Lazy, stupid or crazy?" and you'll be in good shape. For heaven's sake avoid "Adult ADHD: How to Succeed as a Hunter in a Farmerâ€™s World." That book is useless. The "Delivered from..." and "You mean..." books are full of practical advice and move quickly past the idea that ADHD people are miraculous etc. We all have strengths and weaknesses, but ADHD doesn't make you miraculous as claimed in the "How to succeed as a hunter..." book, which is utter nonsense.

Do not buy the "updated and revised version" â€” buy the cheaper version from 1994 (if you want this book). I was shocked to find that aside from the 8-page introduction, next to nothing has been changed from the 1994 version.Despite calling the disorder ADHD in the intro, he calls it ADD throughout the rest of the book. Despite saying that ADHD affects men and women in equal numbers in the intro, soon after in the book he says that it affects men three times more than women. The research he describes is largely from the early nineties or before, despite the explosion of new ADHD research findings in the past 22 years (although there is updated medication information).This makes me angry because the author's grab for money in releasing an "updated" version of a book about a disorder that is hardly updated at all is unacceptable and negligent. Clinicians and patients will read this inaccurate/unupdated information and not deliver or receive the best treatment they could potentially have. Dr. Hallowell stresses in his book how dramatically the disorder can negatively affect one's life and how important treatment is â€” yet he presents vastly outdated information and pretends it's new, doing a great disservice to ADHD sufferers like myself who want to heal.

If you or someone you love has ADD or ADHD this book is a must have. Written in case file style, it will provide valuable insight to what makes you tick. It was an eye opener for me personally, and my son. I went from "what is wrong with me?" to "oh, so that's why...I'm supposed to be this way." This allowed me to form structures in my life to manage my ADD, and even exploit some of the classic ADD traits as assets (such as gaining control of the ability to hyper focus for problem solving, instead of it controlling me). Was recommended to me by my Dr.

Iâ€™m so glad my doctor recommended me this book! Iâ€™ve been suffering from ADHD since I was a kid and this book has really helped me through my college years. Growing up I didnâ€™t have much support and barely passed my classes. I didnâ€™t know how to help myself. When I got to college I finally got real help and after my doctor recommended this book to me I couldnâ€™t help but tear up a little whenever I read something that 100% described me. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is suffering from ADHD.

Growing up in a Christian, Regular-Church-Attending Culture, different psychological challenges like Attention Deficit Disorder or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, have tended to all fall into one category: The category of excuses. For many in this culture, the attempt to label and understand these issues looks like an excuse for bad behavior. They might say that hyperactive kids or distracted kids are just in need of stricter discipline. According to some, they haven't been properly trained, and when these kids get into high school, they are told that they just need to try harder. Some people on this side of the fence can even go as far as to say that, "...well, everyone has attention deficit disorder! Your challenges are no different than mine, you just need to buckle down like I have."Besides the fact that an opinion like that is just arrogant... in the words of Dr. Hallowell, "Telling someone who has A.D.D. to try harder is like telling someone who is nearsighted to squint harder. It misses the biological point."This book helped drive that point home for me.Please understand though, I did not read this book simply as a person trying to understand Attention Deficit Disorder in order to help others, students for example, but I read this book as one who has struggled my entire life with A.D.D. Really... I have been diagnosed as an adult by a physician with this condition. For me, this book was personal.Previously to reading this book, I have explored this topic from the Biblical Perspective point of view on more than one occasion. I have heard the arguments and the considered the treatments from the Biblical Counseling (National Association of Nouthetic Counselors) Training that I have received, but I had never really attempted to listen to the other side. Through this book, I have found that the other side has quite a bit to say, and what they are saying is not, "take this magical pill and you will be all better!"Sure, medication is discussed in this book, but it is definitely not the centerpiece. The core of treatment is through learning strategies and getting a better foundational knowledge of the challenges that go along with this disorder. There is also a personal aspect that is encouraged. The treatment includes people and relationships, whether it be "coaches" or "groups" or just the people in your life, there is a human side to the treatment. Near the end of the book he goes into detail on several different structural strategies that have proven to be helpful to those with A.D.D., but even in these strategies, that personal aspect is emphasized.Most of the book teaches through the use of case studies. The names have been changed, but the situations are real. This makes it possible for the author to deal with all of the different ways that A.D.D. manifests itself, whether in children just learning to deal with it or in adults that have spent a lifetime trying to cope. It discusses people with the Hyperactivity element (A.D.H.D.) and people (like me) without the hyperactivity element (A.D.D.).What I found most intriguing in this book was the discussions dealing with all of the secondary issues that so often go hand-in-hand with A.D.D. Issues like depression, anger, abuse and self-medication that are a secondary consequence of the A.D.D. Many of these secondary issues are a result, not of the A.D.D. itself, but from years of believing that the reason you aren't a better person is because you aren't trying hard enough. Those of us with A.D.D. have believed that if we could just get an ounce of the will power that others have, we wouldn't be losing our keys or forgetting important dates. If we actually loved the people that we were talking to, we wouldn't be distracted by what is out the window. If we were just better people, we wouldn't take 10 years and 5 schools and 4 majors to graduate with one 4-year degree. Hearing this inner commentary on your life... for your whole life... can drastically alter your perception of yourself.Whether you are dealing with A.D.D. yourself or with someone you know and love, and if you are looking for a book that does an excellent job in outlining the reality, diagnosis, and treatment of A.D.D. from a current educated, psychological viewpoint, then this is the book for you. If you are looking for a book that balances this perspective with an accurate Biblical understanding of this topic, then you will need to look elsewhere. I have yet to find a book that balances these two realities. I could always give you my perspective, as someone who is attempting to bring these two viewpoints together into a more accurate understanding of what is actually going on in one who has A.D.D., but I haven't written a book yet, and to be honest, I will probably never get around to it anyway. It was challenging enough just to write this book review!

I'll pass on this one. I don't remember how far I read but I do know that the first couple just got married, after knowing each other for a few hours. There isn't really a story, or one that makes sense to me. It's just too farfetched for me and I'm not interested in reading the other three books.

Just girl meets boy.They fall in love within moment's.Then they have sex. ...within moments.And tell each other of their unending love for each other.REALLY???

Yep. These guys are all in. It doesn't matter how long they have known their ladies. Their ladies love them big , dirty and strong. The best part is. They know what word mine is.

I liked a couple of the books better then others but all were good and very sexy. This is a new author for me and I'll definitely be buying more of her books.

I so love these books by this author, they are short and steamy, a perfect escape for short time when you need a break.Nailed - Brody is a hot alpha man and is immediately attracted to the shy nerdy woman, Megan and it doesn't take him long to get her to open up to him in more ways than one. A great quick steamy read that is to the point w/o any extra frills or unnecessary drama and I loved the fact that Brody wasn't a male sl** and gave Megan the confidence boost she needed while being patient with her, drawing her out of her shell.Bounced - A short, quick, great steamy read about a bouncer, Anvil and the woman he falls for at first sight, Sarah. I really enjoyed this read which was free from excess drama and misunderstandings and I loved the fact that they embraced what they did with little to no second thoughts and made it last.Wrecked - Another short and steamy read about a tow truck driver, Rogan and the young woman he helps Layna. They meet when she calls for a sevice to pull her out of a ditch and then again when she calls him to bail her out of jail. It's then he decides he wants to keep her and make her his. She has secrets and is running away from someone but she feels safe with him and finally opens up & reveals all. An alpha man who doesn't lie & is fiercely protective of his woman and doesn't play games. Instant attraction and a woman who is better with the alpha man by her side to complete each other....refreshing read, to the point, insta love, a book you can't put down till you're done.Drilled - A hot alpha man, Graden, who says what he means and doesn't beat around the bush and the young woman, Rebecca, he promised to look after his best friend (her older brother) died. Graden is fighting his attraction to Rebecca, thinking she needs somebody better and that he is not worthy of her. Rebecca though has other plans, she has wanted Graden who is all male. When she asks him to teach her how to keep a guy, he loses it and it becomes tense between the two until finally he can't hold out any longer. But there is something he hasn't told her and that may just drive her away.I can't get enough of these stories from this author as the author has a way in a very short amount of time having you fall in love with both of the characters. The writing is exceptional and I really really enjoy that the man is not a man wh***, but is an all dirty talking possessive alpha man that makes you swoon, sigh & swoon again, needing at least 2 full glasses of ice water just to cool down from the intense and steamy steamy scenes. Not only that but little drama and what drama there is, it doesn't go on and on and on...refreshing.A perfect book to read by the poolside or beach so when it gets too hot you can cool down!!!

Bounced:This is my first book by Ms Harper & if this is her usual style then I am a huge fan already. I love a good insta-love/lust book. Anvil is a pretty awesome guy & when he sees Sarah he is blown away. He is a tough guy with a beautiful heart & Sarah is a good girl who keeps on the straight & narrow, that is until Anvil knocks her feet out from under her.Nailed:Megan has never fitted in either with her father or her peers. She is socially awkward and lives in a world dominated by the cerebral and not the carnal but when Brody comes to the house to do work for her father that changes for her. Brody is so incredibly sweet to her and instantly feels protective and wants nothing more than to keep her safe, even if its from himself but when he finds her in a compromising position all bets are off and he vows to teach her not only about the carnal but about her worth as a woman, his woman.Drilled:Rebecca doesn't have the best self-esteem but she is sweet and kind and surprisingly knows how to stand up for herself when the need arises. Graden, well, well, well... he is a what my mom would call a man's man! He lives up to his promise to his friend but in doing so changes his own life irrevocably and sets him in a direction he never thought he wanted.Wrecked:Insta-everything doesn't make it any less believable or sweet. (& of course don't forget steamy). When Lance meets Layna he figures she is trouble, what he doesn't figure straight away is how she is going to turn his life completely upside down. He knows she is running from something but just doesn't know what it is. When she trusts him enough to let him in he is furious at what she has gone through and decides then and there that she is his and nothing and no-one will ever hurt her again.I voluntarily reviewed each of these books individually in the past.

I love these books so much! Each one is a unique treat where a spirited young lady finds her HEA with a blue collar yet swoon-worthy alpha sweetheart. This author's writing style is exceptionally brilliant, with hilarious dialogue, intense chemistry, authentic situations, and genuine heartfelt emotional depth. The romances are deliciously sweet, but there's more than enough steam in these books to set your kindles on fire! Each novella is a decadent treat, one you'll want to read again and again and again. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this set.

These books are so amazing and the perfect length to read during lunch or right before bed.These stories are full of stream with men who prove hard work reaps great rewards.Worth every penny, give up the Billionaire's for a while and see how dirty blue collar can be.
