I teach graduate school dermatology and was very disappointed in this book--in fact, I just returned it. Problems? #1) does not talk enough about epidemiology; #2) does not include enough common AKAs; and #3) it needs editing badly! For example, it will list a heading of, for example, treatment and then go off talking about pathophysiology or another subject completely unrelated to treatment – that completely drove me crazy. For a book that costs over $300 US, I would expect all of the aforementioned problems to be non-existent.

Some of the more signicant developments present in the U.S. S2 version are barely touched upon. The special tires that come with the S2 sport package aren't even mentioned. There is a decent amount of info on what to look for when buying an S1, but not much regarding the S2.

This story really messed with my psyche! I really was pulling for Jayce. I felt that they show have had their HEA ! I hated the end of this book. Maybe hstd is a sttkng word but I'm a hopeless romantic. Why did Nathaniel get a second chance?

This book is a bomb. So many secrets, unexpected turns and the truth was all unexpected. This author will keep you in the edge of your seat. This book is a must read. That ending was a dropped jaw moment. Once you are done you will continue thinking about what you just read. Great job B M Hardin!

We've been a book club coming up on 10 years now, and trust me, we know a good book when we read one. We're putting you on blast and putting your secret out here. Ms. Hardin you stole the show with this one lady. We even hope there's a sequel to this book in the near future and we don't particularly like sequels. Congratulations! This is a great book. I read it in 12 hours. All the secrets that everyone is keeping is so shocking. Granny knew everything but couldn't keep her family in line

Kudos to the author! This book took me by surprise and it was really good. The book had a lot of twists and turns and there was drama after drama. I appreciated how she scattered cliffhangers throughout chapters and left me in suspense at the end of each chapter. Congrats on a job well done !

I’m almost speechless after reading this. BM came with a different style of writing than I’m used to from her & I loved it. I literally felt like I experienced the South, just from reading this book. So much was going on that had me eager to finish it. Definitely enjoyed this book.

About the Author

Barbara Gaskell Denvil was born in Gloucestershire, England but after living in half a dozen different European countries and cruising the Mediterranean for some years, has now temporarily moved to rural Australia. When younger she worked in many literary capacities and published numerous short stories and articles, but now writes full length novels. Her passion for late English medieval history and this forms the background for her historical fiction. She has published three hictorical novels - SATIN CINNABAR which is a crime adventure actually commencing on the Bosworth battlefield, SUMERFORD'S AUTUMN which is an adventure mystery with strong romantic overtones, set in the early years of the Tudor reign, and BLESSOP'S WIFE (published in Australia as THE KING'S SHADOW) which is a crime/romance set in England during 1482-3 during the turbulant years around the death of King Edward IV. Barbara is also an author of fantasy and will shortly be publishing two of these - descriptions to come soon. Both fantasy and historical fiction take us into new worlds and Barbara's books do exactly this - being multi-layered, and rich in atmosphere and depth of characterisation.

A very engaging book, the punch line at the end was a surprise!!

Do you enjoy a good read that will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to guess the sub plots? Well this is one of those great reads. Each time I thought I knew who was the 'bad egg' in the 'dysfunctional family basket' the author would throw in more red herrings and suspicions to have me totally re- guessing. Set in 15th century England amid political unrest, family jealousy and tragedy the cast is varied and all have secrets and deep personal mistrusts, hatred and opinions. Some are also very nievè, innocent and sheltered from the real world while others are the ones that most families have somewhere and spend so much time trying to avoid!! Marriages are negotiated for status, material gains but not for love.Young Emeline ( Emma) is told she will be marrying Nicholas, second son of a drunken Earl who is still mourning the loss of his eldest son. Watching the relationship between Emma and Nicholas tentatively unfold and then as tragedy and circumstances forces the need to develop trust is beautifully written and captured by the author. Rich in history and everyday life in medieval England gives an added layer and emotional attachment with this story. The thought that repeatedly came to mind for me was how lucky we are to have the freedom to just throw on a t- shirt and shorts ...certainly saves time for other things although great here in tropical Australia but probably not for an English winter or rainy day.This was a stand-alone book with a HEA and an ending that revealed the secrets of 'who done it'...well done to the author although when revealed it did make sense. I voluntarily received and read an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems and it really kept my interest until the very last page. An author I will certainly read more of.

My first impressions of Emma, the main female character, were that she was very whiny and clingy. If she had been the sole focus, I would have quit the book early on. Fortunately, the main male character, Nicholas, intrigued me from the get-go--partially because he was escaping a window while wearing a dress the first time we see him! While I found myself rolling my eyes at much of Emma's crybaby theatrics, Nicholas kept me interested in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed his sarcastic wit and self-deprecating humor.I enjoyed the constant whodunit nature of the book. To be honest, I had no idea who our killer was up until it was revealed in the very last chapter. I had my suspicions--and this character was one of my guesses--but I could not have pinpointed it down. Everyone had a reason they could have been the killer, so it was fun to finally see who it was and why.I found the length of the book to be too much for the story. It could have been edited down by probably 100 pages. Another aspect I felt needed some editing was the excess of dashes in the dialogue. I'd be curious to see a Word count of dashes because it was inexhaustible. Sometimes the dashes were used correctly, but a lot of the time, they weren't. Commas or ellipses would have been more appropriate.At any rate, I felt this to be an enjoyable read, but it would be strengthened by an editor.

I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it so I had high hopes for the second book. Unfortunately, it didn't take long to see that the quality of this book fell way, way short of my expectations.The characters are a major drawback in this story in that....well, they suck. I know; that's not the most helpful or even most mature way to describe anything you don't like but here, I'm afraid, it is apropos. Every single female character, including the heroine, is insipid to the point of lunacy. They all want to have grand adventures and solve murders but only as long as they can do so in nice clothes, with good food, and basically with as little fuss as possible. The only female character that shows any promise is the heroine's mother and she's no queen. Any other time, I might excuse characters like these as products of the historical era being portrayed in the novel as long as the heroine at least seemed adequate. No; these women are high-strung, high-maintenance, and not too bright. Truthfully, since they're all the product of a 21st century female author, they're downright embarrassing. Couple them with gentlemen who are all lacking in the "gentle" department and you have a whole lot of nothing. The male protagonist, Nicholas, shows promise as he seems like a decent human being and has at least two brain cells to rub together. You almost feel bad that he's loaded down with a dunce of a wife. No chemistry at all causes the romance portion of this book to seem contrived and utterly unbelievable.The plot isn't much better with Nicholas doing secret work for the King while leaving his wife and her crew of dingbats to chase a murderer despite showing a laughable inability to function outside of respectability. Forget the fact that Nicholas has been accused of said murders and said dingbats can't seem to do anything without him. I guess it just all works out in the end eventually. Other reviews say the ending has a nice twist. I'm reserving judgment.Bottom line: I'd recommend a hard pass. I love historical fiction and I'm often willing to accept character flaws as part of the experience. In this case, however, there may be too much to overlook. I'm still trying to decide if I have the patience to finish this travesty.

This book is fascinating. My son is autistic, he is verbal but not completely comfortable communicating and this book helps me see some of the things he could be dealing with internally. What a gift. It will be one a read a few times.

I teach K-6 students with autism, and can see many correlations to Naoki's perspective he shares in his books (this one, and also The Reason I Jump). I've done much highlighting, and this would be an excellent resource for giving other staff greater perspective. I have watched "trained" Sped professionals follow their training and totally miss the mark because they're not engaged with their student with autism. Thanks, Naoki, I love your voice!!

Very helpful for a family with 2 Autistic children

Excellent book - I promote it constantly. A recommend read for anyone who wants to understand someone else's world.

I love the concept of being able to see inside of his mind.. however, I am very conflicted whether Naoki could have written this book. I just don’t understand how one can be so self aware of his or her limitations such as not being able to associate the sound of rain with rain, yet later further assess what his or her thought process was and understanding that they had a limited thought process. It almost seems like someone else guessing what an individial with autism would think. Im not exactly saying its all fraud, but I am admitting that I cannot seem to understand or grasp how this book came to be.

I enjoyed this book, even though at times it was difficult to read. I wonder in another 20 years how our public education system will be facilitating education for our autistic students. I had a paradigm shift after reading this book and now realize that autistic individuals are special people who can teach all of us how to live more graciously.

This is an amazing book to be written by someone so young, much less someone who is autistic. The brief chapters are interesting and inspiring, and as a professional writer, the book left me admiring of the insights and the clear writing of the author.

Most of us know or have seen someone with autism. This book allows amazing insight into a world we cannot fully understand. I recommend it to anyone who has an interest in learning about this mysterious phenomenon.
